How did a football loving physio who liked tech become the leader of one of our EPR programme

Nick Ansell Programme DirectorAsk Nick, and while his career path is packed with digital experience, he says it’s all thanks to his days as a young physio at James Paget.

He’s spent his career in Norfolk. He knows what it's like working at our acute hospitals, he knows the staff, he knows our patients and our challenges. He knows just how much we need to change from paper files and charts, indecipherable handwriting and having to log on to several different systems.

Nick knows Norfolk, and he knows we will work together to make those changes and welcome the electronic patient record in our three acute hospitals.

As a young James Paget physio being told ‘you like tech, look at this’ while on rotation at a community Trust implementing its first digital system, to juggling clinical and digital work before focusing completely on digital, Nick has always felt the right thing to do should be the easy thing to do.

That’s the aim of our new EPR and Nick is super proud of the teamwork to build and implement the MEDITECH system for Norfolk and Waveney’s acute hospitals.

“There is no one else within the UK doing the breadth and scope of what we are doing,” he says. “The expertise the team has grown has been phenomenal.”
