Meet the Workstreams

The EPR Programme has a robust governance structure in place to ensure it runs smoothly and experts from all three acute Trusts are involved in decisions.

The EPR Programme Board has five main workstreams which work on various areas. These are:

Transformation and Adoptionclinical staff in uniform gathered listening

The Transformation and Adoption Workstream guides the Programme Team around business change and adoption activities including leadership buy-in, communications and engagement and organisational readiness. Areas within Transformation and Adoption include: Communications, EPR Training, EPR Benefits.

Finance

The Finance team oversees the financial aspects of the programme ensuring it remains compliant with procurement and financial policies. All of the money for the Norfolk and Waveney Electronic Patient Record is coming from NHS England with some from the Integrated Care Board. The EPR is part of a government drive to digitise the NHS, so all funding comes from the national purse, not local Trusts. The team oversees the whole EPR budget, working with all workstream leads.

Technical

The Technical Workstream guides the Programme Team around readiness activities and ensures technical requirements are met including technical architecture, systems integration and security solutions.

Data and Analytics

The Data and Analytics Workstream is responsible for ensuring that the MEDITECH Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system meets the organisation's data requirements.

The Data & Analytics team is supporting data migration from legacy PAS systems and developing a new data warehouse (known as a Data Factory) to enable secure, accurate, and timely access to MEDITECH data. This will ensure the continuity of statutory, clinical, and operational reporting.

Work includes building automated data pipelines, aligning with national reporting standards, and developing Power BI reports tailored to the new system. The programme ensures that key datasets - such as SUS (Secondary User Services), CSDS (Community Services Data Set), RTT (Referral To Treatment) and key operational reports remain robust, accessible, and fit for purpose throughout and after the EPR implementation.

There are nine Design, Build, and Test (DBT) teams working to build the EPR system with Meditech. The teams consist of staff in various roles from across the three trusts to ensure the new EPR system suits the needs of the staff who will be using it.
